October 08, 2025
SimplePractice and Tebra are both US-based SaaS solutions for medical practice management. They enable staff scheduling, document management, billing and payment processing, online telehealth consultations via secure client portal. They comply with health data privacy standards (e.g. HIPAA).

However, SimplePractice (founded in 2012) is primarily focused on mental health practices, counselors, therapists and similar specialties. It has more modern interface that is easier to use than Tebra. SimplePractice's strengths include in-built library of document and record templates, assessment forms, automated patient reminders and insurance billing.

Tebra (2021) – was created as a merger of Kareo and PatientPop. It positions itself as a unified "operating system" for practices that integrates clinical, financial and marketing tools. The system uses artificial intelligence to automate routine operations, such as compiling patient examination reports. The system includes reputation management tools (review monitoring, SEO), claims management system and insurance verification.
